Meet the Endorsers
Art and I were honored by the tremendous scholars who endorsed Mere Economics.
It'd take another book to catalogue their magnificent achievements, so here's a short summary instead.
- Mike Munger. Mike hardly needs an introduction. He's professor of political science and economics at Duke University and has appeared a record forty-nine (!) times (by last count) on what is probably the most well-known econ podcast of all time: Econtalk, hosted by Russ Roberts. Check out Mike's book, Tomorrow 3.0, or read one of his hundreds of stimulating posts at the American Institute for Economic Research.
- James Otteson. Jim is the John T. Ryan Professor of Business Ethics at the University of Notre Dame and master of all things Adam Smith and David Hume. Read his paper "Adam Smith and the Great Mind Fallacy" or his tour de force book, Seven Deadly Economic Sins.
- Nicolai Foss. Nicolai is professor of strategy at the world-class Copenhagen Business School and is one of the most cited living scholars in any discipline (over 61,000 citations as of today). It's hard to succinctly capture the breadth of Nicolai's contributions, which span the theory of the firm, entrepreneurship, management, property rights economics, history of economic thought, and much more. Check out his most recent book (with Peter Klein), Why Managers Matter.
- Marian Tupy. Marian is a Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute and the founder of HumanProgress.org, which you should visit for a regular pick-me-up. Turns out, the world isn't going to hell in a handbasket, and Marian has the receipts to prove it. Read his eye-opening book (with Gale Pooley) Superabundance, watch his interview with Jordan Peterson, or listen to him describe his childhood in Czechoslovakia.
- Samuel Gregg. Sam is the Friedrich Hayek Chair in Economics and Economic History at the American Institute for Economic Research. His countless articles on protectionism, American history, and classical liberalism appear on dozens of platforms. The WSJ says Sam's the reason the "Invisible Hand is striking back." Read his most recent book, The Next American Economy.
- Scott Rae. Scott is the Dean of Faculty at Biola University's Talbot School of Theology, former president of the Evangelical Theological Society, and a distinguished ethicist. Read his masterful books, Body and Soul (with J.P. Moreland), Moral Choices, Business and the Common Good (with Kenman Wong), and Doing the Right Thing.
- Robert Brooks. Robert is emeritus professor of finance at the University of Alabama, President of Financial Risk Management, and has provided expert testimony to the the U.S. House of Representatives. He has authored several undergraduate and graduate textbooks in finance. Read his analysis of stakeholder capitalism. Like Art and myself, Robert wants Christians to understand the social order God designed.
